Jim O’Brien Tournament
Bruree host Granagh/Ballingarry this Sunday, 10th May, in the second annual Jim O’Brien Tournament, with throw-in at 3pm.
The tournament pays tribute to the late Jim O’Brien — a true Bruree legend and a proud member of Limerick’s 1973 All-Ireland winning team. Widely regarded as one of the finest hurlers ever to wear the Bruree jersey, Jim’s dedication to the club never wavered. His influence stretched far beyond the field of play, and this tournament stands as a fitting honour to his legacy, celebrating the lasting impact he made on both the club and the wider community.
This year’s fixture is a one-off tie and also doubles as Round 4 of the All County League, adding extra significance to the occasion.
The game also forms part of the Bruree/Rockhill & Friends “United Against Cancer” initiative, in aid of Milford Care Centre and the Mid Western Cancer Foundation. Entry is free on the day, with a BBQ, shop, and donation buckets available to support the cause.
With pride, league points, and a worthy cause all on the line, a competitive contest is expected in Bruree.
